After playtime, the 9-year-old busily punched the air, tapped her foot, twirled, and bent her knees… dance was her world! Her school’s annual day was coming up in two weeks. Mayuka was set to perform a group dance along with classmates from 4th standard first and later, a solo dance in the competition category. The girls prepared for the group dance with their class teacher. For her solo, she took help from Greta Miss, her dance teacher at the Dancing Stars studio near her home. Two weeks became one week and then soon enough Rainbow School’s annual day arrived. She was exhausted from the constant practice yet excited. ‘Welcome to Rainbow School’s Annual Day,’ read the banners everywhere. Mayuka walked into school chirpily with her mother. Since her father’s death a year ago, it was her mother who attended all her school events. Mayuka and her mom went to her classroom, buzzing with her dance pals. ‘Where’s my skirt?’ ‘Miss, my hairclips are missing.’ Ka-chik, ka-chik, selfies everywhere. Mayuka got ready quickly. Her mom gave her the usual good luck kiss. The dancers waited backstage as Miss Lily announced ‘Here come the dance champs of class 4!’ The audience clapped exuberantly before and after the dance.

The main character is six year old little girl named Yara. She is a very cute, kind and sensible little girl. Yara has a very friendly face and personality. She is wearing a pink little outfit, with black ballerina pump style shoes and has two ponytails with yellow ribbons. She has long brown hair, dark eyes and a cute little button nose, with rosy cheeks. It is break time at school, and everyone is excited to open their lunch boxes—except for one little girl sitting all alone. Her name is Leila. She is new to the school and to Yara's class and is very shy. She doesn’t have any food for lunch like the other kids and seems very embarrassed about it. Some kids are staring at her, some of the girls are whispering to each other talking. Yara notices her sadness and feels a tug in her heart. Instead of joining her friends, Yara walks over to Leila with a smile and offers to share her lunch. Yaras friends see this and suddenly feel very bad for not being kinder to Leila. Tito comes over and offers Leila his juice from his lunch box. Keena comes over and shares her fruit with Leila. They became friends and Leila is feeling very happy. It looks scary!" Sea Turtle exclaims. Dolphin reassures, "It’s just a boat. Let’s stick together!" When Clown Fish gets caught in a net, Sea Turtle and Dolphin work together to free him. Relieved and safe, Starfish reflects, "We are all so different, but we make a great team!" Dolphin smiles, "Our differences make us stronger." Clown Fish adds, "Thank you, everyone." Miko is a bright, lively and friendly meerkat. He loves popping and looking out of burrows to explore the Kalahari. Miko likes moving from place to place and can’t stay still! Lou is a clever lizard; she loves to imagine the stars in the sky so much that she sometimes forgets to listen in class. Miko and Lou are different from their friends because they both have ADHD Miko struggled to stay still in class. He was always digging burrows and often got distracted during his How to Spot a Predator class. Lou also struggled in class. She couldn’t focus on her Sun Safety class because she was easily distracted by the clouds in the sky and often forgot to take down her homework.After visiting Dr Wild the Wildebeest, Miko and Lou learnt to do things that would help them to manage their ADHD. Although Miko and Lou struggled in class, their ADHD is now an advantage!Miko became the captain of the sand surfing team and had the fastest record in the desert! Miko was also top of his insect tracking class and created the first ever pair of insect spy goggles that could see different insect tracks and tell you what type of insect you are looking at!Lou enjoyed stargazing so much that she was top of the class for astronomy and could name every constellationEven though Miko and Lou had some tough times with their ADHD, they both learnt cool tricks to help them feel better and do their best. They have support from their parents, teachers and classmates. But the best part was that they could count on each other! Miko and Lou learnt how to handle their ADHD together and were always there to help each other when things got tough.
